EUROPE –
In response to brand owners and OEMs’ serious concerns about the sudden plastic material shortage and price spike caused by the high number of force majeure situations declared in recent months by polymer suppliers, European plastic converters are banding together to “fight this unjustified situation”.

According to EuPC – the EU trade association representing European plastic converters, the reliability of the European polymer producing industry has been raising “serious concerns” as over 40 force majeure situations have been declared in a period of only four months, leading to a sudden material shortage that has “forced production lines across Europe to stop at the plastics converting level”.

In addition, raw material prices “continue to rise to record highs” due to the material shortage, alleged the trade association.
