The Indian food processing minister has defended her department’s efforts in upgrading the country’s food processing industry, despite India’s huge food waste volume.

Speaking at an agri-business and dairies summit in Gujarat, India’s food processing minister Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti alluded to an unnamed recent report which claims that the majority of farm commodities produced in the country is wasted each year, but said her department was doing a “good job”.
