Indian confectionery market to hit US$2.2bn in 2018

Indian confectionery market to hit US$2.2bn in 2018, Canadean, Asia packaging, India, confectionery packaging
INDIA –
The Indian confectionery market is expected to grow by 71% in the next four years, as the growing Indian middle-class consumes more gums and jellies and chocolate continues to be high in demand among children, according to Canadean.

In 2013, the Indian confectionery market was worth almost US$1.3 billion, and is expected to grow by 71% to hit US$2.2 billion in 2018.

This is due to economic growth and development and the resulting rising disposable incomes - particularly among the middle-class, says Canadean, which accounts for 45% of overall confectionery consumption in the country; more than half of the confectionery they consume is gum.
