JAPAN – PacPlus Co Ltd has developed a flexible pouch consisting of separate compartments which contents can be mixed together within the package itself.
An innovation concept that PacPlus calls the “Match-Mixing Pack”, this solution allows for the containment of different ingredients within a single flexible pouch. Simply by pulling a tab that runs along a special seal separating the pack compartments, the different ingredients can be easily mixed together.
According to the company, different packaging film materials can be used to manufacture the separate compartments to meet the barrier protection requirements of the different ingredients. For example, one compartment could be made from aluminium foil while the other could be a plastic material.
While the patented technology is still in its development phase, PacPlus is exhibiting the Match-Mixing Pack at Tokyo Pack 2012, Booth 1-01 (2 – 5 October, Tokyo Big Sight) to introduce the solution. The Japanese company says customer interest has been positive so far and it hopes to produce the packaging commercially soon.
