ASIA – HP has appointed Mike Boyle as its new head of HP GSB (Graphic Services Business) in Asia Pacific and Japan.
Boyle - formerly the senior general manager of Canon Professional Print Australia - replaces Gido van Praag, who leaves the role after five years to become vice president of GSB Europe, Middle East and Africa.
Van Praag said, “Mike Boyle is an excellent choice for HP and for the market. His experience, knowledge and drive fit perfectly with HP and the requirements of the dynamic market in the region.”
This change in management comes as HP commences a major push into the packaging printing sector, fuelled by what the company claims is a 70% market share for its digital press brand Indigo.
According to van Praag, the HP Indigo digital press now sells as many units in the Asia Pacific Japan region as it does in Europe.
HP now supplies digital flexo and digital corrugated printing systems, and by next year expects to see the fruit of its collaboration with KBA.
