Storopack acquires Japanese protective packaging manufacturer, Storopack, EJ Co Ltd, Asia packaging, Japan packaging
German protective packaging converter Storopack has acquired EJ Co Ltd, a major manufacturer of loose fill packaging chips in Japan.

For several years, EJ was a Storopack trading partner in Japan for the sales of the latter’s PAPERplus paper cushioning and AIRplus air cushions. EJ also supplies domestic customers with loose fill protective packaging under the ECosoft, ECOtouch and HItouch brand brands.

With this acquisition, Storopack will be able to have a direct presence in Japan, and the necessary understanding of the Japanese market.

“This acquisition represents an important strategic step for us,” explains Frank Imkamp, Storopack’s President for Asia Pacific. “The objective is to gradually expand the product range as needed (in Japan). Furthermore, the acquisition strengthens Storopack’s position as world market leader in the key area of Loose Fill protective packaging.”

Over the coming months, during the integration of EJ in the Storopack group, the company will operate under the Storopack Japan Co Ltd name. The firm has its own production plants at its headquarters in Ebina in Kanagawa-Ken as well as in Komaki in Nagoya.

Youichi Isawa, who has been Managing Director of EJ for over six years, will continue to head up operations. The company currently employs a staff of 33. Imkamp will be responsible for market development of Packaging Division in this region, and will be working alongside Isawa during the integration process.

Today, the Packaging Division has locations in North America, South America, Europe and Asia. Its products are available in over 40 countries through a network of distributors.
