GERMANY/AUSTRALIA – Packers now have easy access to an innovative packaging technology - a patented snap-open portion pack concept on thermoforming packaging machines - that allows consumers to open the package with one hand.

Multivac and the Australian Snapsil Corporation recently struck a cooperation agreement for the use of the patented Snapsil easy opening packaging concept on Multivac thermoforming packaging machines. New anti-fog packaging shrink film for excellent clarity

US - Sealed Air has launched a high-performance polyolefin shrink film with anti-fog properties for protecting fresh produce while maintaining its visual on-shelf appeal.

The new nine micron film, which can stand up to the performance of a traditional 15 micron film, provides excellent clarity and shrink that improves cleanliness, hygiene and safety for producers and retailers of fresh food products. Its strong seal retains moisture and freshness, even at low temperatures.

Revolutionary ‘smart label’ launched for food packaging

SCOTLAND - A Scottish company has launched a new smart label aimed at improving customer confidence in the quality of their food while cutting down on unnecessary waste.

Easily incorporated into any film lid, the label is activated when a packet is opened and triggers a timer that changes colour as the food within loses freshness – meaning hungry fridge-raiders can tell straight away if their snack is out of date or not.
