INDONESIA - As Indonesia’s iconic beer brand, Bintang is embedded in the country’s culture. When it decided last year that it wanted to play a part in the celebration of the country’s 70th Anniversary of Independence, the brand launched special limited edition packaging that places Indonesia right in the spotlight.
The challenge in the packaging design creation for Bintang’s two formats – the 500ml glass bottle and 330ml metal can - was to develop a concept that would celebrate Indonesia’s 70th Anniversary, whilst at the same time stay true to the brand values.
Singapore-based Why? Brand Design Agency decided to reverse the original red and white coloured background design to reflect the composition of the Indonesian flag - putting Indonesia right at the heart of the design. In addition, this original flat colour was transformed to emulate the look of flag proudly displayed at high mast.
Meanwhile the prominent red star - the visualisation of the brand name Bintang which means ‘Star’ - was transformed to a gold image, amplifying the celebratory feel of the design and adding to the premium finish.
In addition, the 70th Anniversary of Independence has been brought to life through the visualisation of 70 red and gold stars, perfectly positioned to visualise the number 70.
