New dispensing closure puts Carrefour in the fast lane, Global Closure Systems (GCS), Carrefour, Asia packaging, France
FRANCE –
A new adjustable and lockable dispenser for French retail giant Carrefour now makes it easier for consumers to pour liquids from automotive product containers.

Global Closure Systems (GCS) has fine-tuned its Jeroboam snap-hinge standard dispensing closure to help Carrefour accelerate sales of its range of own-branded coolant and windscreen washer products.

Automotive product containers are traditionally difficult to handle during pouring and this often leads to glugging, spills, and splashes. The Jeroboam overcomes these problems thanks to several innovative design features.

Its pouring spout can be rotated to allow the container to be used in the most convenient position, making it simple to use in confined spaces like the engine compartment of a car.

An efficient anti-glug system, integrated flow regulator and splash-guard device ensure a constant, accurate flow of product and clean pouring without any spillage.

“No need for funnels, no more struggling with bulky containers to pour liquid into places which are awkward to reach,” says Mohamed Bekkar, Product Development Manager Car Accessories, of Carrefour. “Jeroboam’s in-built controlled dispensing system solves a long-standing problem in the market and makes life so much easier for consumers.”

Developed by Astra Plastique, one of GCS’s plants in France, the Jeroboam’s flip-top pourer opens and closes with an audible click and has a patented locking device to prevent any leakage during storage or transportation.

For product security, the flip-top has a tamper-evident tear-off strip while the polypropylene screw-on base incorporates a tamper-evident band on the neck of the container. The base has also a locking tab that engages with a lug on the container to prevent its removal.

GCS is supplying the Jeroboam in variety of striking colors to match Carrefour’s label graphics for greater on-shelf impact and product differentiation.
