TUSCANY – One traditional wine maker in Tuscany is challenging perceptions of premium wine packaging with its new Bag in Box format for its products.
Created by Norwegian design agency OlssønBarbieri, the 3-litre Bag in Box displays a level of sophistication for Villa Cafaggio – a Tuscan wine property from the Chianti area - comparable to existing wine packaging in the market.
Simple yet classic, the Bag in Box packaging design features clean lines and traditional calligraphy for a sense of luxury. Using a neutral beige background color for the box, the packaging invokes memories of rustic countrysides and reminds consumers of the careful craftsmanship that went into the making of this premium wine product.
"Most wine producers are reluctant to market their premium wines in Bag in Box because they don't feel the product format reflects the quality of their wine,” explained the design agency.
“The goal was to challenge the industry and production line standards introducing a premium paper quality. Thanks to the selection of one of the finest italian paper producers, the hot foil, the embossing of the brand-name and the carefully orchestrated layout, the result of the Cafaggio BiB has worked as a door opener to convince other wine producers to sell their premium wines in Bag in Box as well.”
