For Marc Jacob’s newest fragrance – Dot Perfume – the fashion icon decided in an insect-inspired bottle design that “just seemed right”.

Created by Japanese designer Sayuri Shoji in collaboration with the brand, the bottle was designed to celebrate Marc Jacob’s well-known iconic pattern and features a cheery composition of round shapes stylishly spotted in a polka dot motif.

Elegantly crafted in transparent red-tinted glass, round-shaped butterflies of different sizes adorn the bottle, while a luminous pearl at the centre of the butterfly adds a polished detail. Polka dots galore for latest Marc Jacobs fragrance packaging, Marc Jacobs, Sayuri Shoji, packaging, Asia

The bottle cap is an oversized butterfly-inspired “chic play of proportions”, says the brand, balanced with a collar that is wrapped with a gold coil for a touch of luxury.

The polka dot pattern continues on the outer carton packaging, featuring a palette of red and black for a perfect balance of modern and classic. The gold embossed Dot Marc Jacobs logo is decorated with the rounded butterfly icon for an additional charming touch.

The bottle design “just seemed right”, said Marc Jacobs: “I asked myself, What would this Dot be? And for me, it would be something that was chic, something that was charming.

“A dot is timeless and a pattern I always love, and round shapes are always beautiful,” he added.

“I liked the idea of these hybrid-butterfly-ladybugs, which suggest a sort of free spirit and femininity and playfulness. And of course, ladybugs mean good luck.”
