CANADA – To help its client stand out in the competitive women’s lingerie market, one Canadian packaging converter has created a package that releases a fragrance when the plastic folding carton is handled.
Compression apparel marketer QSD, which develops maternity and post maternity undergarments that help support and enhance a woman's figure, wanted a package that would be truly unique and memorable in the competitive women's lingerie market. They achieved that goal with a hexagon shaped folding carton using A-PET material (often referred to as acetate).
The hexagon shaped package was originally designed by Transparent Packaging's team and when QSD became aware that Transparent Packaging could apply an encapsulated fragrance to the outside of the carton, QSD jumped at the opportunity.
"Having a nice fragrance associated with our product packaging really sets us apart," said Carine Villeneuve, Marketing Manager for QSD. The scented package is one of the consistent styling cues that is driving the QSD Angel Care maternity wear brand recognition.
The outer surface of the printed hexagon shaped box has a scented varnish applied. It releases a gentle fresh cotton fragrance just by consumer handling the package. If it is intentionally rubbed, it will release more fragrance. The fresh cotton scent was chosen because of the warm comfortable home feelings associated with fresh linens.
Transparent Packaging has over 60 "stock" fragrances available, and also the ability to apply custom fragrances, giving its clients plenty of choices to develop a unique and memorable package. Other applications that have used a scented plastic carton include hair care product packaging, perfume packaging, and promotional packages.
Transparent Packaging Inc is an amalgamation of what was previously three competitors: Transparent Packaging, Sicht-Pack, and Look Packaging. The first in the industry to pioneer sustainable, 50% post consumer recycled PET clear folding cartons, Transparent Packaging focuses strictly on the specialized non-paper packaging converting business.
