US - By end of 2011, Avantor Performance Materials will offer tamper-evident outer packaging seals for all regulated pharmaceutical raw materials and excipient containers to boost customer confidence in Avantor’s supply chain security.
The new tamper-evident seals will help pharmaceutical customers easily identify evidence of product tampering, therefore minimizing the risk of chemical contamination and sabotage.
The outer packaging for the US company’s regulated pharmaceutical products will also present a consistent, standardized appearance worldwide.
“We are implementing our enhanced tamper-evident seals initiative to proactively meet the needs of drug manufacturers,” said Avantor Executive Vice President, Pharmaceuticals and the Americas, Paul Smaltz.
“This voluntary quality improvement program reflects our ongoing commitment to supply chain security and customer satisfaction.”
Enhancing tamper-evident seals on all of its regulated products is just one of the measures taken by Avantor, in collaboration with its suppliers and end users, to further enhance the security of the chemical supply chain.
Other initiatives include participation in the Rx-360 consortium of pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies and suppliers dedicated to improving supply chain security and advancing patient safety.
In addition, Avantor has implemented transportation security measures to improve product traceability. The company also monitors suppliers’ quality and management of change systems and procedures.
Based in Center Valley, PA, US, Avantor manufactures and markets high-performance specialty chemistries and materials around the world, providing products widely used in electronics and photovoltaic manufacturing; biotechnology and pharmaceutical production.
