HONG KONG –
The Hong Kong government is proposing larger pictorial health warnings for cigarette packaging from early 2016 to curb smoking rates, and the tobacco industry is not pleased about it.

Currently, health warnings on cigarette packs must cover at least half of the printed surface. The Food and Health Bureau wants to increase the pictorial warnings from half of the packaging to 85%, and has submitted a proposal that is currently being discussed by the Legislative Council’s health services panel.
