Connecting the World: Tokyo Pack 2012

JAPAN - Announcing its mission, exhibition owner Japan Packaging Institute (JPI) says it wants Tokyo Pack to function as a base for industry to come together and solve global problems.
The theme 繋がる “Tsunagaru” is the Japanese word to describe the concept of maintaining a connection that comes from the power of the spirit, soul, and one’s will, and has become very important as the world becomes increasingly globalized and impersonal.
“Through Tokyo Pack, we hope that companies will be able to connect with one another in person, packaging solutions are delivered to consumers, innovative technological ideas exchanged, and concepts to improve the packaging industry in Japan and globally discussed,” explains JPI.
“We hope industry players will come together and use Tokyo Pack as their base to extend their networks, and develop and strengthen relationships with one another. It is very important that the personal relationships that evolve through doing business are not buried beneath a bulging email inbox and the overwhelming online networks,” JPI says, noting that throughout all of Asia, personal relationships often need to be established first to develop trust, before business is done.
“It is only through discussion and the exchange of ideas face to face that the global packaging industry can mature, create exciting new solutions, and help provide answers to the world’s problems of food safety and proper delivery, counterfeiting, security of material supply, and environmental pollution,” the packaging association says.
Five major Japanese players in the global packaging industry have already confirmed their attendance at Tokyo Pack 2012, including Rengo Co Ltd, the Japan-based global producer of paperboard, corrugated, flexible and heavy duty packaging; weighing, packaging and inspecting solution provider Ishida Co Ltd; tags and labels company Takara Pac Ltd; Idemitsu Unitech Co Ltd, supplier of sheet, film, resealable zipper tape and nonwoven fabric; and Anritsu Industrial Solutions Co Ltd, which provides solutions for contaminant detection, automatic weight inspection and combination weighers.
Other companies exhibiting at Tokyo Pack 2012 include Kyodo Printing Co Ltd, DKSH Japan k.k., and Tokyo Foods Machinery Co Ltd.
